They’re a great choice for people of all ages and fitness levels—here’s why
You’ve probably seen them or at least heard of them, and maybe you have friends who have used them, but did you know that resistance bands can offer your body a myriad of benefits? Until recently, I had no idea how beneficial these nifty elastic bands can be. And if you’re like me, you’re always looking for new ways to get and stay fit—because doing the same old workout all the time can get old, fast. So to help you (and myself), I wanted to talk about some of the benefits of resistance bands and why we love them so much.
1. They’re cheap
This is more a benefit for your pocketbook, but I think it’s important to note that there are not many items in the fitness arena that cost less that about $10. Resistance bands are one of them and they come in an array of colors and styles so you have many choices.
2. They’re adaptable
Resistance bands come in a variety of levels so whether you’re a beginner like me or you have lots of experience, you have access to the one that is right for you. You can also adjust the level of resistance by adding or reducing the slack in the band or adding more than one band to your workout.
3. It’s a whole-body experience
I like when I can do a total body work out and using resistance bands, I can do just that and so can you. You can also choose to work on a certain muscle group each day or do a combination. Another great thing about resistance bands is that you can do all the exercises you’re most familiar with, like bicep curls, squats, leg extensions and more.
4. They’re mobile, just like you
Resistance bands make it easy to workout wherever you want. You can take them with you to a friend’s house so you can get fit together or head outside to workout in the fresh air. They are small and light enough to go wherever you do, even in your suitcase, so you don’t have to stop working out just because you’re traveling.
5. They work well with others
To me, this is one of the most awesome aspects of resistance bands! You can combine them with other fitness equipment to create all kinds of workouts and change it up as often as you want. Many people use them along with rebounder trampolines or dumbbells to take their workouts to a whole new level.
No matter how old or fit you are, resistance bands are a great choice. And because they are inexpensive, portable and easy to store (you can keep them in a drawer or under your bed), they are an ideal option for those in live in apartments or who, like me, are always on the go.
