Home > Trampoline Assembly Tips > Net Too Short

"The Safety Enclosure Net is not overlapping at the doorway, my net is too short."

When the net appears to be too short it is often caused by two things:
1. The net is not extended to its full length along the upper and lower support straps.
2. When connecting the lower edge of the net to the V-rings on the jumping mat, the net is being pulled around and under the outside of the trampoline frame (incorrect), instead of over the top of the safety pads (correct).

Net not extended to its full length
The net is held in place on the enclosure poles and trampoline by upper and lower support straps. These support straps are woven through the netting and knotted at each corner of the net at both ends. The straps are knotted through the corners of the net to prevent the net from sliding along the straps during and after installation. The straps come “pre-knotted” from the factory. Occasionally the distance between the knots along either edge is too short which prevents the net from extending to its full 46 foot length. Consequently, when the net is hung it does not extend far enough to create the overlap for the entry area.

The solution is ensuring that the distance between the knots in the straps is 46 feet before attempting to install the net. If the net measures less than 46 feet, untie the knots in the straps at the end of each support strap without loops, stretch net to 46 feet, and then re-tie the knots. If the net is not long enough to reach this distance it is indeed too short and must be replaced. Please see the instruction manual for detailed diagrams and step by step instructions.

If the net is long enough and properly knotted, the other major cause of installation issues is the way the lower portion of the net is connected to the trampoline (see below).

Net should NOT be pulled around the outside of the trampoline frame
All of our safety enclosure nets are installed so that they wrap around the outside of the poles. However, between each pair of poles, the bottom of the net is pulled inward - over the top of the safety/spring pad, toward the center of the trampoline - where it is then connected to the edge of the mat.

The safety net should NOT be pulled around the outside of the fame and attached underneath. Doing this over-stretches the net in a way that prevents it from extending to its proper length. When properly installed the 46 foot long net will allow you to create a 1 to 2 foot overlap for the entry. Please see the instruction manual for a detailed diagrams and step by step instructions.
